Shine Theory is a collaboration concept coined by Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman, based upon the premise, “I don’t shine if you don’t shine.” For Lauren Bates at Wild Terrains, it’s the foundation for how she does everything in her business.
Wild Terrains is a group travel company for women that collaborates with women-owned businesses around the world. Every hotel, restaurant, gallery, class, studio, and boutique they visit is owned and operated by talented women. And they publish their full itineraries in detail because they feel it’s important to spotlight these incredible women (something that is sort of an unspoken rule within the travel industry).
But Lauren refuses to run her business around this scarcity mentality and instead chooses to let others shine. They’ve specifically used the shine theory to make collaboration and partnership the main way they grow their business.
Which I found super fascinating after learning what a marketing genius Lauren is. This woman knows her stuff, so I know that you will leave this episode filled with so many great insights into how you can approach your business from a different headspace that will ultimately affect your impact, your bottom line, and honesty.
