If you have ever seen a Hollywood star with a key around their neck, chances are it was handmade by a man or woman transitioning out of homelessness at The Giving Keys. Everyone from Kristen Bell and Taylor Swift to Leonardo DiCaprio and Ryan Gosling has sported the jewelry designed by Caitlin Crosby.
Caitlin was named among Oprah’s SuperSoul100 list of visionaries in 2016, and her jewelry has been featured on The Today Show, Ellen, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and many other media outlets. The Giving Keys jewelry has been carried in over 1,400 stores and they have partnered with Nordstrom, Starbucks, Anthropologie, Magnolia, and Free People. The company has employed over 130 people transitioning out of homelessness at their warehouse in Los Angeles.
Today, I have the honor of sitting down with Caitlin to talk all about the message she has for fellow purpose-driven entrepreneurs in her new book, You Are the Key: Turning Imperfections into Purpose.
We talk about why other people’s expectations can keep us far from our purpose. And how our purpose is actually meant for our own growth and healing just as much as it’s meant to impact the world.
Caitlin also shares how purpose goes deeper than our businesses, and why it’s important that we don’t confuse the two.
Finally, Caitlin will share some of the mindsets we should keep as we are out making an impact on the world around us.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
- How other people’s expectations can keep us far from our purpose
- Why your purpose is not your work or your business
- Why your purpose is found in your imperfections
- How your work contributes to your own personal healing
- How not to fall into the Savior Complex
- How to surrender control during the messy path of entrepreneurship
